The early movies of late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami are to be reviewed in the UK.

The Close-Up Film Centre in London plans to pay tribute to Kiarostami by reviewing his early works on June 5-19.

“Almost a year since Abbas Kiarostami's unexpected departure, Close-Up celebrates the art of Iranian cinema's poet by screening some of his rarely seen early films made in the 1970s and 1980s for the Centre for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults” the official website of the center wrote.

‘The Traveller’, ‘Bread and Alley’, ‘Breaktime’, ‘The Report’, ‘The Experience’, ‘Homework’, ‘Colours’, ‘So Can I’, ‘First Graders’, ‘The Chorus’ and ‘Take Me Home’ are among the films which are to be screened.

Kiarostami was a multitalented artist and an exceptional man who joyfully embraced life. He was winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’, passing away on July 4, 2016.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator and graphic designer.

The cinematic works by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker have been hailed by various festivals around the world.

Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paying homage to Kiarostami by presenting retrospectives of his works.
